NO2ID Say: Lobby a Lord!24 February 2006 - The Identity Cards Bill will return to the House of Lords in less than 2 weeks. You can write to any lord you like! Here's a list of those with Liverpool connections. Urge them to reinstate the Lords amendments that MPs threw out - most importantly the amendment that would ensure that we would not be forced to register for an ID card when renewing our passports. Don’t wait. Don’t put it off. Don’t make excuses.
Write to a peer, write to as many with whom you can find a genuine connection as possible.
The key issue when the Bill next hits the Lords is that of ‘creeping compulsion’ - i.e. the fact that you will be denied a passport (and possibly other official documents) the next time you renew or apply for one, unless you submit to Registration and paying for an ID card. Let the Lords know how you feel.
